Classroom Move Coming for Law and Safety

I have been advised that our classroom is being moved.  We will be going to a portable and then next year should move into our new home in the new Academy Building in Fall 2014.  I will let you know when and where we land as soon as possible.  Also new websites are being created.  Not sure if I will keep the blog, maybe only if you guys tell me to keep it up.  Thanks for following and see you when we land in a new room.

Finals Week May 28-31

Exams after the Monday Holiday:

Tues 3rd and 7th and full day.
Wed 1st and 5th out at 1:15p.  No lunch.
Thurs 2nd and 6th out at 1:15p. No lunch.
Friday 4th and 8th, out at 1:15p Seniors Picture at 1:30.  No lunch.

Students have to be in class to be counted present.

May 13-24 Working on Finals

All homework was due on May 10, 2013.

Intro was Stress Relief Methods.
Law One was World Cup Plan.
Law Two was Resumes.

This week we will be talking about Strategies and Planning.
We are using One Man Army and Youtube for making a plan
and sticking to it.  This is a major career goal for all students
to have and use successfully.

Senior Testing Dates are May 23, 24.

Finals are scheduled for May 28-31.
Please be sure to note that you do not have school on Monday May 27th.

Intro is working on learning about Security Jobs.
Law 1 is working on Patrol Techniques and Assignments
Law 2 is working on their Professional Resume's and Job Interviews.

Disaster Drill Photos



Week of April 15

Intro Students are working on issues in Stress and Physical Fitness that are related to Police, Fire, and
First Responders for the short and long terms.
Law One is working on Specialized Policing Groups and using them to Problem Solve Crime Issues.
Law Two is working on Long Term Planning Issues and applying their skill bases.

Disaster Drill was on April 12, 2013.  Students did an Amazing job of putting together a collection of Crime Scenes, Problem Solving Experiences, Academy Interview Experience, and a Special thanks to the Round Rock Police Explorers for putting on a Handcuffing Drill.  Students are always welcome to post pictures here and I will put some up as they arrive.  Thanks for all the support and taking the time to stay on top of our classrooms.

Law 1 due April 19 is what Patrol Plan would you choose, due May 10 World Cup Plans

Week of March 25-28, 2013

We have four days of school this week.
Wed is a WOW catch up day so get your passes.
Tuesday is a Teacher meeting so no tutoring that morning is available.

Intro will be working on how to document Field Notes for Officers.
Law 1 Will be working on Report Differentions and styles.
Law 2 Will be finalizing all Management Issues this week for Disaster Drill.

Thanks for all your hard work as we head into the last 8 weeks of school.

EOC testing begins April 1-4 for 9/10 graders.

March 19-22 at Rifle Range

All classes will be at the rifle range from Tues March 19-Friday March 22.
Students are learning about gun safety, officer safety, and liabilities officers must face.
CO2 BB guns are being fired and advanced teams will be working on Paintball Rifles
for Disaster Drill work.

Homework is due by Friday March 8

All homework for all classes is due on March 8th.  Notices have gone out to students individually
for missing work. 

Intro is working on Crime Scene and determining the meaning of the Death that happened in the bay.
Evidence collection bags are due.

Law One has been working on Legislative and Historical issues as well as non-lethal weapons
and tactics.

Law Two has been working on Crisis Planning.

April 12 is the Disaster Drill so we will be planning for that right after Spring Break...

Disaster Drill Date is April 12

Friday April 12th, 2013 is the date.  Event should be during 2nd period that day.

March is here in Law and Safety

We are currently working on Crime Scenes both Today and in the Past.

Intro to Law is finishing up "Cleaner" about a Crime Scene Cleanup Mystery and will be
doing crime scenes for most of next week.

Law One is taking the Historical look at Crime Scenes and Forensic Science over the
last ten years especially.  They are watching Season 2 and then Season 8 of CSI to
see what has changed.

Law Two is on track with their Non lethal weapon projects and will be doing Crisis
planning as we get ready for the Disaster Drill.

End of Six Weeks Number 4

As the end of the six weeks is Feb 15th, I wanted to let everyone know where we are at:

Intro to Law is doing "Training Day" to discuss Police Ethics and Financial Evidence
Law One is getting into NIMS for Disaster Drill Review and will move on to History
Law Two is creating a Resume from their Career packets.

Law Classes at RRHS

The Intro Class has just completed the Constitutional Issues with Minority Report the Movie.
We have moved on into the Fire Safety Section.  We did a scavenger hunt for the Fire Ext.
throughout the campus and the students enjoyed finding the missing ones that I had in the classroom.
We will continue in the Fire Section and include the movie Back Draft for learning the technology
and science behind fires.

The Law One class has just completed the Jurisdictional Issues in the movie, Law Abiding Citizen.
They will be moving into NIMS identification and training for the Disaster Drill.

The Law Two class has done a walk through of the Disaster Drill with discussions on each commanders
assignment and responsibilities.  The action portion was mapped out and the designers were able to
tweak any changes they needed.  Law Two is also working on a Career Portfolio packet that they
can keep and show to local employers.

February 23, Saturday is our trip to Dallas.  Please be sure you get the signed papers turned in.

Classes resume on Monday Jan 7 as an A day.

Intro-
HW 1 is to Name 3 types of communication methods.  Due Jan 18
HW 2 is to Name 3 types of evidence collected at Crime Scenes.  Due Feb 8

Law 1-
HW 1 is to Define (write out) 2 types of Non-verbal communication. Due Jan 18
HW 2 is to Name 5 sections of the NIMS Designs.  Due Feb 8

Law 2-
HW 1 is to Name 2 tools for Crowd Control.  Due Jan 18
HW 2 is to Explain (give examples) of why the Fire Dept would take control in a NIMS Program.  Due Feb 8

Intro class will be starting to discuss penalties or punishments of crime and watching the Experiment.
Law 1 will be working on verbal and non-verbal communications using Flashpoint.
Law 2 will be working on Crowd Control Formats and techniques using Youtube and Policeone.com.
